The Samsung Galaxy tab is among the smallest tabs you can purchase. It is designed to be held with one hand, and is small enough to fit in the back pocket of your pantaloons.

One particular app makes typing much quicker on the Galaxy: Swype. This allows you to input text with a single continuous motion with your finger for each word. Thus, if one want to do a lot of typing or texting, it could go faster on the Samsung Tab than the Apple iPad.

If you take a quick glance the Galaxy tab, you’ll know that it’s not trying to be a replica of the iPad. Firstly, it’s smaller in size – only 7.5 x 5 inches in contrast to the iPad’s 10 x 8 inches. Secondly, the Galaxy has the Android OS and come pre-installed a variety of popular apps from Google. Lastly, it has a couple key specs that the iPad does not have: forward and rear looking cameras, and a place for additional RAM via an SD card. The card gives over 30 gigs of extra storage. The extra SD card is very useful if you take a lot of pictures or videos.

You might wonder why one would purchase this tab in place of another. Well, it’s a better choice if you’d like easier portability than the larger iPad. Also, if you favor the Android OS, the Galaxy is a tablets that uses it. The Android OS allows some extra functions over the first-gen iPad. For example, it is optimized for video chat. Additionally, you can display Flash webpages, which can’t be seen on the Apple.

The Galaxy has integrated Google apps, so it has easy access to all of the important Google mobile programs. This includes Google Search with voice recognition, Google Maps, Google IM, and Picasa. The tab can also access the Android app store, which has over 200K apps available.
